In high school, Chika stood out from her peers; she never experienced the flurry of crushes her friends constantly discussed. Everyone assured her she’d feel “that spark” once she met the right person. However, as she transitioned to college, she discovered a community of individuals with feelings resonating with her own. Here, Chika encountered a term that perfectly captured her experience: asexual.
With this newfound understanding, Chika’s journey towards self-acceptance gained momentum. Embracing her asexuality, she began to feel profoundly more at peace with her identity, no longer feeling out of place amidst the myriad expressions of human connection and affection.
